They display brilliant shades of electric blue, golden yellow, and vibrant orange, complemented by iridescent spotting and elegant finnage.
Peaceful, intelligent, and full of character, Asian Rams make an outstanding centrepiece for planted aquariums, offering all the charm of a dwarf cichlid without the aggression associated with many larger cichlid species.

🐠 Compatibility
Perfect for peaceful community aquariums. They mix well with cardinal tetras, rummy nose tetras, ember tetras, Corydoras, otocinclus, pencilfish, hatchetfish, peaceful rasboras, and other calm tropical species. Avoid aggressive cichlids, fin-nipping fish, and overly active tank mates that may cause stress.
Important Notes
Asian Rams are more sensitive to fluctuating water conditions than many community fish and are best suited to mature, fully cycled aquariums. Regular water changes, stable temperatures, and a varied, high-quality diet will help maintain their vibrant colours and overall health. During breeding, pairs may become mildly territorial while defending eggs or fry.
The Asian Ram is a fantastic choice for UK aquarists looking for a colourful, peaceful, and intelligent dwarf cichlid that combines stunning colouration with graceful behaviour, making it a spectacular centrepiece for any freshwater planted aquarium.
