🐠 Compatibility
Suitable for larger peaceful community aquariums with fish too large to be considered prey. They pair well with angelfish, severums, peaceful Geophagus species, larger rainbowfish, silver dollars, Congo tetras, peaceful gouramis, and larger Corydoras. Avoid aggressive cichlids, fin-nipping species, and very small fish such as neon tetras or guppies, which may be eaten as the knifefish matures.
Important Notes
Black Ghost Knifefish are sensitive to poor water quality and require a well-established aquarium. As a scaleless fish, they can also be more sensitive to certain medications, so treatments should always be used with caution. Although shy initially, they often become surprisingly interactive once settled and may even learn to take food directly from their keeper.
The Black Ghost Knifefish is a fantastic choice for UK aquarists looking for a truly unique and intelligent freshwater fish that combines graceful movement, fascinating behaviour, and striking appearance to create an unforgettable centrepiece in a large tropical aquarium.
