Black Tiger Badis (Dario)

Behavior & Compatibility:
Black Tiger Darios are best kept in species-only or peaceful nano community tanks. They can be territorial, especially males, so a well-structured scape with plenty of hiding spots is key. Despite their feisty looks, they’re shy at first and thrive in calm environments with minimal flow.

Care Requirements:

• Tank Size: 10+ gallons (ideal for a small group)

• Temperature: 72–79°F (22–26°C)

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Diet: Live and frozen foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworms — they rarely accept dry food

• Temperament: Semi-aggressive (especially males)

• Size: Up to 1 inch (2.5 cm)

Aquascaping Tip:
A lush, heavily planted tank with driftwood, leaf litter, and shaded areas brings out their best color and confidence. Pairing them with shrimp or micro-rasboras can make for a captivating, peaceful display.
