Golden Male Endler (Poecilia wingei)
The Golden Male Endler is a stunning and highly sought-after colour variety of Endler's Livebearer, prized for its brilliant golden-yellow body, shimmering metallic markings, and energetic personality. These tiny livebearers may be small in size, but they make a huge impact in the aquarium with their dazzling colours and constant activity. Many males also display flashes of orange, black, emerald green, and iridescent blue, creating a unique appearance that differs from fish to fish.
Golden Male Endlers are incredibly active swimmers, spending their day exploring every level of the aquarium and displaying to one another. Their peaceful temperament and hardy nature make them an excellent choice for beginners and experienced fishkeepers alike, particularly in planted nano aquariums and peaceful community setups.

Avoid keeping them alongside large predatory fish, aggressive cichlids, or fin-nipping species that may stress these small livebearers.
Important Notes
Golden Male Endlers are often sold as all-male groups, making them an excellent choice for aquarists who want to enjoy their spectacular colours without the rapid breeding associated with mixed-sex livebearers. If females are introduced, Endlers are prolific breeders and can produce fully formed fry approximately every 4–6 weeks under suitable conditions.
Like all Endlers, they can hybridise with guppies (Poecilia reticulata), so they should not be housed together if maintaining a pure Endler strain is important.
Although extremely hardy, Golden Male Endlers flourish in clean, well-maintained aquariums with regular water changes and a varied diet. Their colours become most intense under good lighting, in planted aquariums, and when fed foods rich in natural pigments.
The Golden Male Endler is an outstanding choice for UK aquarists looking for a peaceful, colourful, and easy-to-care-for nano fish. With its radiant golden colouration, lively personality, and suitability for planted community aquariums, it provides a constant display of movement and brilliance that will brighten aquariums of almost any size.
