Mazus Reptans - (Creeping Mazus) 1 ltr

Mazus reptans (Creeping Mazus) is a fast-spreading, mat-forming, semi-evergreen perennial that grows only 2–6 inches tall. It is characterized by small, bright green leaves and profuse, two-lipped purple-blue or white flowers with yellow/white spots, blooming from late spring to summer. Ideal for moist, sunny spots, it is used as a groundcover, lawn substitute, or in rock gardens. 

Key Characteristics and Description

Habit: Low-growing, creeping, and mat-forming.

Foliage: Small, narrow, slightly toothed, bright green leaves. It acts as a semi-evergreen ground cover, remaining green in warmer climates.

Flowers: Prolific, tubular, two-lipped, purple-blue (or white in the case of 'Albus') flowers with yellow and white markings.

Bloom Time: Late spring to summer.

Size: Height of 2–6 inches (5–15 cm) and a spread of 12–30 inches.

Roots: Creeping, rooting stems.

Hardiness: Generally Hardy in USDA Zones 5-8. 

Uses and Maintenance

Ground Cover: Excellent for filling gaps between stepping stones or as a low-traffic, fast-spreading lawn substitute.

Pond/Marginal: Ideal for damp, boggy, or shallow edge areas of ponds.

Care: Thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist to wet, well-drained soil. It is low-maintenance, though it may need dividing in spring.
