Sunset Platies thrive in mature aquariums with stable water conditions and plenty of live plants. They enjoy a mixture of open swimming space and densely planted areas where they can rest and explore. Floating plants are also appreciated, particularly by young fry if breeding occurs. A varied diet rich in both vegetable matter and protein helps maintain their vivid colours and overall health.

Important Notes
Sunset Platies are prolific livebearers, with females capable of producing batches of fully formed fry approximately every 4โ6 weeks under suitable conditions. If both males and females are kept together, breeding is almost inevitable. Providing dense planting or floating plants will give fry the best chance of survival.
For the healthiest social dynamic, aim to keep one male with two or three females, helping to reduce unwanted attention towards individual females.
Although extremely hardy and forgiving, Sunset Platies thrive in clean, well-maintained aquariums with regular water changes and a balanced diet. Their vibrant colours become even more intense when fed foods containing natural colour-enhancing ingredients such as spirulina, krill, and carotenoid-rich foods.
The Sunset Platy is an outstanding choice for UK aquarists looking for a colourful, peaceful, and easy-to-care-for tropical fish. With its warm sunset-inspired colours, friendly personality, and suitability for community aquariums, it makes a wonderful addition to planted tanks and is sure to brighten any freshwater setup.
