📏 Size

• Stocky, ground-dwelling lizard with a thick tail.
• Females are generally slightly smaller than males.

🏡 Housing

• Adult minimum around 90 × 45 × 45 cm; larger is preferable.
• Provide at least two hides: one warm and one cool.
• A humid hide should also be available for shedding.
• Use slate, stone, reptile-safe substrate or a suitable soil/sand mix.
• Provide low branches, cork and clutter for enrichment.

🌡️ Temperature

• Basking surface: 32–35°C
• Warm end: 28–30°C
• Cool end: 22–25°C
• Night: 18–22°C
• Use thermostatically controlled heating.

💡 Lighting

• Low-level UVB around 2–5% is beneficial.
• Tremper Albinos can be more light-sensitive, so provide plenty of shade and avoid excessively intense UVB.
• Give a natural 10–12 hour day/night cycle.

💧 Humidity

• Aim for around 30–40% ambient humidity.
• The humid hide should be kept more humid to assist shedding.
• Good ventilation is important.

🦗 Food

• Feed a varied diet of live insects such as crickets, locusts, dubia roaches and mealworms.
• Juveniles generally require more frequent feeding than adults.
• Adults are usually fed around 2–3 times per week, depending on body condition.
• Dust prey with calcium and provide appropriate vitamin supplementation.

💧 Water

• Provide fresh, clean water in a shallow, sturdy dish.
• Replace regularly.

🐍 Shedding

• Leopard Geckos eat their shed skin.
• Ensure the humid hide is available and kept suitably moist.
• Never pull retained skin from toes or the tail.

🤲 Handling

• Usually very docile and can become excellent pets.
• Support the whole body and allow the gecko to walk between your hands.
• Never pick up by the tail — Leopard Geckos can drop their tails when severely stressed.

❤️ Health

• Monitor appetite, weight and tail condition.
• Watch for retained shed, parasites and metabolic bone disease.
• Tremper Albinos may have increased sensitivity to bright light.
• A healthy adult should maintain a well-filled tail without becoming overweight.

🧽 Cleaning

• Spot-clean faeces regularly.
• Clean the water dish frequently.
• Replace contaminated substrate and thoroughly clean the enclosure as required.

🏠 Before You Bring Your Gecko Home

• Set up and temperature-test the enclosure beforehand.
• Have warm/cool hides, humid hide, UVB, heating and live food ready.
• Ensure the enclosure is secure and escape-proof.

⚠️ Important Bits

• Tremper Albino is a colour morph of the Leopard Gecko, not a separate species.
• Provide plenty of shaded areas because albino eyes can be more sensitive to bright light.
• Do not house two males together.
• Allow a new gecko time to settle before regular handling.
• With good care, Leopard Geckos can be a 15–20+ year commitment.
